View more training and eventsThe National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP) course is suitable for mental health professionals, across all seven NHS England regions, who currently work or may work with diagnosed or undiagnosed autistic people in the following settings:
adult inpatient mental health hospitals
children and young people
inpatient mental health hospitals
all age community mental health settings, including CAMHS
residential special schools and colleges
secure welfare and youth justice.
The programme commenced in May 2023. Each training course runs over four days and is delivered completely online.
Current training dates
Currently there are training dates available from September to December 2023 and January to March 2024 for:
adult inpatient mental health
children and young people inpatient mental health
children and young people (CAMHS) community mental health settings.
Training dates in November to December 2023 are available for the four-day pilot training for adult community mental health settings.
A two-day orientation course is also available for those NHS staff who attended the pilot Autism Inpatient Train the Trainer course in 2022 with either AT-Autism and Anna Freud, or Maudsley Learning.
Future training dates
Further training dates in 2024 will be released for these settings. Training dates for secure welfare, youth justice and special residential schools and colleges, will be released in the latter half of 2023.
